Dr Paul MacGinley BVSc CMAVA
Paul was born and bred locally, and is a Veterinary Science graduate from the University of Queensland. He met his future wife Leanne Litzow on the very first day of their university studies in 1979 when they were made to sit alphabetically, although they attended sister and brother schools they had not met before. Both completed their studies in 1983 and married in 1986. Paul interned at the Silkstone Veterinary Hospital before establishing the Grange Veterinary Surgery at its current location in 1987. He has an abiding interest in dentistry, surgery and Feline Medicine, He is a very frequent attendant at post graduate continuing education seminars and conferences, and qualified as a Charter Member of the Australian Veterinary Association in 2009.
Dr Leanne Litzow BVSc
Leanne graduated with Paul from the University Of Queensland in 1983 and after a stint working in Melbourne's Bundoora Veterinary Hospital returned to Brisbane. She worked for several years full time at Queensland Veterinary Specialists before marrying and starting her family in 1988. Her veterinary career slowed for a number of years working part time both at QVS and the Grange Veterinary Surgery. After her third baby in 1994 Leanne has finally devoted all her veterinary attention here. Her special interest in veterinary medicine is reproduction having bred and shown Dachshunds for many years. Leanne's major outside interest is netball where she competes weekly and is nationally accredited netball umpire.
Dr Jim Healy BVSc
Jim, who is currently consulting at the Grange Vet Surgery on a part time basis, was born and raised locally before moving to a work in a mixed animal practice after graduating from Queensland University in 1979 as a veterinary surgeon. From 1983, until selling the practice in 2008 he managed and owned the Bray Park Veterinary Clinic. Jim is married with four children, in his spare time enjoys gardening, reading and attending Bronco’s games
Kathy Edwards CVN
Kathy is our senior Veterinary Nurse with over 25 years of experience in the veterinary industry. Her Veterinary Nursing career began back in the early 80's, when she began work at a specialist practice on Brisbane's northside. She originally completed a three year Veterinary Nursing course in 1986, and then went on to update to a Certificate IV in 1999. Kathy has worked at the Grange Veterinary Surgery since 1993. Kathy has special interests in both Medical and Surgical Nursing.
When not at work Kathy enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. She also enjoys music and reading.
Her family shares their home with rescued pets 'Ducati', and 'Gabby' .
Rachael Anderson
Rachael commenced her work experience component of the veterinary nursing course at the Grange Veterinary Surgery in early 2009. Rachael showed exceptional competency and was offered a position on the staff prior to completion of her studies. Rachael came to us via St Rita’s College, Clayfield and is a trained photographer. Her special interests include macro photography particularly of wildlife and plants, camping, fishing, hand raising orphan possums, birds and other native fauna. Her pets include lorikeet, Kodah, dogs Bear and Skip.
Denise Lilwall
Denise has worked as a veterinary nurse at the clinic since completing her Year 10 school based work experience and is currently in her 2nd year of the Bachelor of Veterinary Science degree course where she is on the deans academic list. Denise attended Kelvin Grove State College where she was school captain in 2005 and after completing 2 years of a Science degree at UQ she began her BVSc. Denise is a keen soccer player and has achieved Australian representative honours. She resides at St Lucia close to the UQ campus but has a collection of pet cats, dogs and birds as well as close contact with native flora at her mother's Warner property.
Lisa Batzloff CVN
Lisa was born and raised on Brisbane’s North side and attended school at St Rita’s College, Clayfield. Lisa studied Applied Science and Education at QUT for a couple of years before changing tactics and completing a Certificate III in Companion Animal Services at TAFE in 2009. She enjoyed this course so much she went on to complete her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2010. Lisa completed the practical component of the vet nursing course here at Grange Vet Surgery. After course completion Lisa continued to work with us on a casual basis during busy school holiday periods before starting full time work with us in September 2011. In her free time Lisa enjoys travelling and arts and crafts. Lisa lives with her fiancé and 2 much loved cats: Moet and Ella. Lisa's fiance, Eldon, is currently serving a second tour of the duty with Royal Australian Engineers in Afghanistan.
